Bad Habits And Gum Infection

Bad habits is one of the risk factors that contributes to periodontal disease. Periodontal or gum disease is a gum infection, and a number of individuals are experiencing the condition. Poor oral hygiene is the primary cause why periodontal disease often occurs and bad habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol intake and poor nutrition are major contributors to periodontal disease. With poor oral hygiene, plaque are being formed from bacteria producing acids and toxins that irritates the gums resulting to inflammation, gum infection.

Gum infection can be avoided with proper oral hygiene and by avoiding its major contributors. Brushing and flossing should be observe regularly and rinsing the mouth with warm water and salt can also be helpful in preventing bacteria build up. And it is still necessary to see the dentists every six months, periodontal disease may be prevented at its early stage.
